Community Interaction (v): The act of using the community as an extension to the classroom. At Conn, community members are invited into the classrooms as "Expert" guest speakers during modules as well as throughout the school day. Not only do we invite speakers in, but we believe in the value of sending our students out into the community to see their curriculum in action. Modules offer our students the ability to go out into the community on a free "Excursion" to a venue that reinforces the concept being learned in class.

Along with all of these fun experiences, we have an active PTA that work to set up Artists-in-Residence for grades 2-5. These artists may come and teach the art of Batik, writing skills, or story telling skills. Many of our Artists-in-Residence come for a whole week and work for an hour a day with each class to help the students understand, appreciate and apply the skills used in their disipline.
